If you’re visiting Abu Dhabi it is highly likely the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (the Abu Dhabi Mosque) is high, if not the top, of things you want to see in Abu Dhabi. After visiting the mosque in the day, spend sunset at this lesser known Abu Dhabi gem – found not too far away from the mosque and one of the best places for sunset in Abu Dhabi.

Wahat al Karama | The Oasis of Dignity – Abu Dhabi Sunset Spot

The best spot to view the sunset in Abu Dhabi is Wahat al Karama. Without realising you may have seen this location on Instagram as it possesses incredible reflective views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Wahat al Karama translates in English to the Oasis of Dignity and is a war memorial in Abu Dhabi. What makes this spot particularly stunning for sunset in Abu Dhabi is the infinity pool, which is located directed across from the Abu Dhabi mosque. This Abu Dhabi sunset spot is free to visit.

How to get to Wahat al Karama | Oasis of Dignity

You can find Wahat al Karama the Oasis of Dignity at this Google Maps location here. As you can see it is only just across the road from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Due to the location of this Abu Dhabi sunset spot and what I personally found to be a lack of public transport between the airport, the easiest way I found to get to Wahat al Karama Oasis of Dignity (from anywhere in Abu Dhabi other than the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque) was via Uber. After visiting Wahat al Karama Oasis of Dignity, I had to return to Abu Dhabi International Airport and I caught an Uber to do so. This one-way cost approximately 68AED (about $28AUD or £15).

How to get to Wahat al Karama from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

If you plan on visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the day, it is easy to combine your visit with visiting the Wahat al Karama Oasis of Dignity for sunset. Spend your day exploring the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and then when you are ready head to the main entrance and the carpark. Here you should see signs advertising a free shuttle bus that will take you to Wahat al Karama. When I visited these were from 10am to 630pm and left every 30 minutes. Ask around if you can’t find the bus location – I found it was a little bit into the car park. However, this was what the sign and bus looked like when I was there. If the bus is unavailable or you can’t find it, I believe the next easiest option will be to Uber the short distance.

How busy is the Oasis of Dignity in Abu Dhabi at sunset?

When I first arrived at Wahat al Karama the Oasis of Dignity, I had the place more or less to myself. I arrived at least an hour before the sunset. As it got closer to sunset, a lot of people started arriving. Everyone was taking their own photos and no one was getting in each others way but it is something to keep in mind when visiting this Abu Dhabi monument for sunset. This spot was the highlight of my time in Abu Dhabi and I would recommend including it in your Abu Dhabi itinerary.
