If you’re visiting Northern Territory it’s highly likely you’ve already stumbled across pictures of the vibrant blue Katherine Hot Springs. Lucky for you, it is very easy to get to Katherine Hot Springs.

First things first, Katherine Hot Springs is in (you guessed it) Katherine. Katherine is a town of about 10,000 people, located about 3 hours south of Darwin. There is no need for a 4WD to visit Katherine or the hot springs from Darwin as the road is entirely sealed (suggested read: How to get unlimited kilometres car hire in Darwin).

The springs are located less than a 5 minute drive from the middle of town and is very easy to find. Starting on the Stuart highway, turn down the Victoria Highway before turning right at Riverbank Drive. You’ll be able to see a place to park your car near a park and follow the signs towards the hot springs. The path down is sealed.
We visited the hot springs just after sunrise, which meant that we mostly got to have the springs to ourselves and the lighting was beautiful. The water was very warm, which made it an ideal morning swim. The water was absolutely incredible and so vibrantly blue, we could have easily stayed longer.

We stayed here for about 45 minutes or so before heading to Nitmiluk Gorge for a gorge cruise.
