Located an hour and a half west from Brisbane, Toowoomba is a picturesque country town and the largest inland/off coast town in Queensland. With its leafy tree lined streets, old school vibes and fantastically spacious and stately parklands, it makes the perfect backdrop for the city’s annual event: Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Each September, the city comes to life with blooms of all types of floral. From tulips to petunias to poppies and almost every burst of colour in between, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is a must do festival for any one in the Southern Queensland Country and South East Queensland region.
I spent one Sunday during the festival wandering between Queens Park and Laurel Bank Park flower displays. While Queens Park appeared to be where the main attractions were (including a ferris wheel!) we enjoyed Laurel Bank Park far more as there were smaller crowds and a greater variety of flower ‘structures’ to explore and enjoy.
