Where is the Bloc Hotel Gatwick located?

The Bloc Hotel is located in the Gatwick South Terminal, only a few minutes walk from both the main Gatwick Airport Railway Station (your transport in and out of central London) and the connecting train that takes you to the Gatwick North Terminal. As you can see below, the hotel is located within the airport terminal, which is incredibly convenient for those flying in and out of Gatwick Airport.

Gatwick Airport runway view

One of the big sellers for me for staying at Bloc Hotel Gatwick is its incredible view of the Gatwick Airport South runway. I could’ve watched all day as plane after plane took off, landed, taxied and loaded and unloaded its passengers. What’s more if you’re staying for a longer time, you’ll be able to see the runway both in the day and at night, which offer two different views of the famous London airport.

What rooms at the Bloc Hotel Gatwick have the runway view?

These views are available in the rooms that have a window so when making your booking be sure to choose a window room with a view over the airport (there are non-window rooms that are best used for people who just want to sleeeeeep – conveniently, they’re also called ‘sleep’ rooms!). You can make sure you’ve chosen the right room for you by chatting to the team when booking or checking out the different rooms available on their official website here.

What are the rooms like at Bloc Hotel Gatwick?

The room I stayed in was spacious and modern. with sophisticated climate control and very good wifi. Most of the walls are mirrored which does increase how big the rooms feel in a great way. There is a private ensuite/wet room and the shower being a wet room shower was the only thing I didn’t fancy about the room as once you’ve showered the entire room is wet. I got around this by showering last and as you are likely to only be staying for one night or even shorter pending your plane connections this shouldn’t be too difficult to navigate.

The pocket sprung beds were very comfortable and provided a brilliant night sleep – which was exactly what I wanted before I flew the long flight to Hong Kong the following day. There was a TV embedded into the wall at the end of the bed, which gave the whole room a very cosy feeling.

Great soundproofing and blackout blinds

Being next to the runway you might be concerned about your sleep quality; however, I can confirm that the Bloc Hotel Gatwick has both great soundproof and blackout blinds. Every now and again you would hear the planes but they sounded more like cars on the road and it was significantly quieter than if you were staying in a house anywhere in the area. Bloc Hotel Gatwick’s great soundproofing combined with brilliant blackout blinds meant that you are very likely to have a great sleep.
