1. An incredible street view of Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is the most recognisable building is Taipei and there are many different Instagrammable locations to snap a photo of it. One of my personal favourites is from the street where the older buildings perfectly frame with the modern Taipei 101. You can find this exact location of one of the best Instagrammable locations in Taipei by typing Takemura Izakaya into Google Maps (or clicking on this Google Maps link here).

2. The famous Elephant Mountain Instagrammable viewpoint

One of the most well known and famous Instagrammable locations in Taipei (and Taiwan) is Elephant Mountain – in particular, this spot on top of a large boulder. Find the exact location of Taipei’s Instagrammable viewpoint here: Elephant Mountain: How to find Taipei’s most Instagrammable photo spot

3. The official lookouts at Elephant Mountain

Taipei’s Instagrammable spots on Elephant Mountain aren’t just limited to the large boulder photo above. In fact, when I explored Elephant Mountain I actually preferred the view from the two official lookouts. The first photo below is taken from the first lookout, which allows a more sweeping view across Taipei as well as the Taipei 101 building and the second photo is from the second lookout, which is higher and allows a more scaled image of the famous and Instagrammable Taipei landmark.

4. The temple at 228 Peace Memorial Park

While you’re visiting Taipei and Taiwan, I highly recommend taking part in a walking tour as this will give you a greater understanding of Taiwan’s history and relationship with mainland China. For example, you will likely visit and learn about the 228 Peace Memorial Park, which is a memorial for the February 28, 1947 where over 10,000 Taiwanese people were killed during an uprising against the Government. This park is quite large and within it you’ll find this beautiful temple, encircled by water and looking out over its surroundings. You can find the 228 Peace Memorial Park on Google Maps here.

5. Rainbow Road in the Ximending District

One of the most fun and popular Instagrammable locations in Taipei is found in the city’s Ximending District. A popular spot for younger Taiwanese residents, this entire Taipei neighbourhood is quite quirky and Instagrammable but a particularly good spot to snap an Instagrammable Taipei image is at Rainbow Road. As you can see below, the road crossing has been painted in colourful rainbow colours and adorned with the words Taipei. My top tip is to arrive earlier in the morning as there will be less people trying to jump in on the same photo and to be very careful as this is a working (and can be busy) intersection with cars and pedestrians. You can find Taipei Instagrammable Rainbow Road on Google Maps here.

6. Jiufen Village

So not quite in Taipei City, Jiufen Village is a popular day (or half-day) trip from Taipei and is one of the most Instagrammable places in the Taipei area so it’s included in this list. Jiufen is known for its connection to Spirited Away; however, as the case with many tourist sights around the world (here’s looking at you Millaa Millaa Falls and all those who actually believe Peter Andre filmed his music video there), this is likely to have been a connection that was created by tourist operators rather than having any real truth in it. However, the streets of Jiufen are absolutely stunning and hopefully when you visit this Taipei Instagrammable location you’ll have better weather than I did! 7. Amba Hotels Songshan

Don’t just enjoy Instagrammable locations on the streets and surrounds of Taipei, there are also very Instagrammable Taipei hotels as well. Take the Amba Hotel located in Songshan. This gorgeous hotel has rooms available with views out across the Taipei 101 and city. Plus, a very well placed Instagrammable window ledge for you to sit on for the perfect Taipei Instagrammable picture! Book your stay here.

8. Taipei Instagrammable Raohe Street Night Markets

If you’re a fan of street photography or food (or both!) you’ll want to make your way to Taipei’s famous Raohe Street Night Markets. Found in the Songshan area (and just around the corner from Amba Hotels Songshan) here you can walk through the bustling market and capture one or two Taipei Instagrammable pictures along the way. While you’re here be sure to pick up at least one of the Michelin recommended dishes. Find the exact location of Raohe Street Night Markets here.

9. The Ciyou Temple of Songshan

Another popular Instagrammable location in Taipei is also found just around the corner from the Amba Hotels Songshan. The Ciyou Temple is a prominent landmark in Taipei. Here you can wander through and observe as Taiwanese people ask questions and pray to their God. It is a beautiful place to witness Taiwanese culture.

10. Taipei Instagrammable Dumpling Shops

Treat your camera and your stomach by exploring some of the many dumpling cafes, restaurants and stalls in Taipei. From warm and charming cafes to authentic and tasty street stalls, you will not run short on dumplings in Taipei. Be sure to snap a few Instagrammable shots before digging in.

11. The Instagrammable streets of Taipei

As mentioned above, Taipei can be a haven of street photography opportunities so be sure to keep your camera on you as you wander around the streets. The below photo was taken between Songshan and the Xinyi Districts in Taipei, where you can witness and take photos of everyday life of the Taiwanese.

12. The famous Longshan Temple

Longshan Temple is considered to be one of the most famous temples in Taipei. Built in 1738, the Longshan Temple has survived World War II damage as well as a number of natural disasters. This Taipei temple is high up on the tourist list of things to see in Taiwan and makes for a number of fantastic Instagrammable Taipei photos. It is free to enter and walk around but be sure not to disturb any of the locals and take your photos respectfully.

13. Cute buns

Taipei doesn’t only have great food, it has super cute (and super Instagrammable!) food as well. And you can find it anywhere. I picked up this cute custard bun from a stall in a Songshan shopping centre and there were also panda decorated buns available as well. One of the cutest Taipei Instagrammable spots.

14. Taipei Instagrammable bookshop – but please note, it has changed

Before describing the famous Taipei Instagrammable bookshop, it’s important to note that it has changed from the ones you see on Instagram or in other blogs. The Tsutaya Bookstore used to be located around the corner from the shopping centre in Songshan and featured a beautiful staircase and wall lined with books. The Tsutaya Bookstore now resides within the shopping centre in Songshan (on the upper floors) and as a result the layout has changed. The Tsutaya Bookstore is still quite Instagrammable and a good place to visit in Taipei, but don’t come here expecting the staircase or photos like you may have previously seen online.

15. L-O-V-E

The L-O-V-E sign isn’t just for New York City! In fact, Taipei has their very own. I can’t be sure if this was temporary or a permanent structure, but you can find the L-O-V-E sign near the entrance to the Taipei 101 building. This entire area around the Taipei 101 building is very modern and definitely is a bit of a shake up from the older streets in other areas of Taipei. It can be a great place to shoot if you’re looking for a more modern feel to you Taipei Instagrammable shots.

16. Instagrammable Taipei Street Art

And to finish this Taipei Instagrammable list, you can’t forget the Instagrammable street art of Taipei. As you wander the streets of Taiwan, keep your eyes peeled for some incredible street art. I found this art below in the area around the Taipei Main Station.
