First things first, how to get to Lanzarote

Before you eat and drink in Lanzarote, you’ve got to get there. I visited Lanzarote with Jet2 (you can find Jet2 flights to Lanzarote here) from London Stansted Airport (find numerous flights from London Stansted here). Lanzarote is only a roughly 4 hours flight from London and Jet2 makes the Lanzarote experience very easy to research and book (see: holidays to Lanzarote) – like they do with all of their luxury holidays, meaning you can spend more time focusing on what to eat in Lanzarote – which is where this blog comes in, of course!

Lanzarote is a gastronomy lover’s delight

Why? Let me tell you why. Lanzarote is known as a foodie paradise, with delicious seafood, flavoursome meat and food cultivated in volcanic soil. Not only is a trip to Lanzarote a treat for your tastebuds, it’s also an experience in itself – from wineries, to volcanic chicken (yes, you read that right) and delightful multi-course dining with paired wines, each meal is not just an opportunity to be fed, but to immerse yourself in Lanzarote gastronomic culture. Continue on to discover where to eat and drink in Lanzarote.

The best places to eat and drink in Lanzarote

1. El Diablo Restaurant at Timanfaya National Park

Start your eat and drink Lanzarote adventure off strong with a visit to the El Diablo Restaurant at Timanfaya National Park. Here they take barbecue chicken to the next level, directly utilising their natural resources – being a volcano, of course! Enjoy chicken cooked over a volcano barbecue and don’t forget to order the chocolate volcano dessert (this one isn’t made from volcano don’t worry, but it’s shaped as one, which is super cute).

2. Kentia Gourmet Club in Puerto del Carmen

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a fancy night out, you’ll want to put Kentia Gourmet Club in Puerto del Carmen on your list. We were treated to a delicious multi-course dining experience with paired wines. And if you’d prefer a cocktail, they do some pretty epic ones here (our favourite one being served in a gigantic octopus jug). When packing for Lanzarote, be sure to bring something nice, as Kentia Gourmet Club is a place to dress up for.

3. Jameos del Agua Restaurant

Combining an experience with delicious food, the Jameos del Agua restaurant is a can’t miss when looking for the best places to eat and drink in Lanzarote. This restaurant is found in the Art, Culture and Tourism Centre that was developed by César Manrique. Situated inside an open volcanic tunnel, this area boasts a cool breeze and relaxing holiday atmosphere – the perfect place to tuck into lunch. We enjoyed pumpkin soup, fish and a delicious chocolate dessert after exploring the area.

4. Wine tasting at Bodega Stratvs in the La Geria region

Discover a place where volcanos are turned to wine (and then drink it!) The Bodega Stratvs is a must do for everyone visiting Lanzarote. Located in La Geria, the famous wine growing region of Lanzarote, Bodega Stratvs is a great place to learn about the unique way of producing wine on a volcanic island while sampling some of the produce as well. On a guided tour, you can explore the impressive vineyards (a little different to the ones we see in France!), the wine barrels and finish off with delicious wine tasting with impressive views over the surrounding volcanos. One of the best places to eat and drink in Lanzarote, while also learning and experiencing more about the island as well!

5. Hespérides Restaurant in Teguise

Don’t leave Lanzarote without enjoying at least one meal at the Hespérides restaurant in Teguise. One of Lanzarote’s historic old towns, Teguise is a must do for all those exploring the island, but made even better by finding one of the best places to eat and drink in Lanzarote. We had a multi-course meal, which featured avocado tuna, one of the best pork dishes I’ve ever had and a rather inventive dessert (can you see the sweet corn used as topping? Surprisingly – and I think it’s down to how it was cooked – it worked!). Don’t just take my word for it, take TripAdvisor’s consistently high rating and its reputation for being a great Lanzarote find!

6. The Restaurant below MIAC at the Castillo de San José

Combine your visit to the International Museum of Contemporary Arts with a delicious dining experience. Situated underneath the MIAC at Castillo de San José, you’ll find a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the Port of Arrecife through rounded glass windows. Enjoy entrées of tomato and papaya, perfectly cooked steak and cherry yoghurt desserts before taking the modernistic stairs up to explore the museum. Plus, you’re eating inside an 18th Century fortress, that’s pretty cool.
