Spending a weekend in Brisbane? There are a wealth of activities and experiences to squeeze into one weekend – here is one of the best itineraries for a Brisbane weekend:
Friday
Friday Night in Brisbane
Kickstart your weekend in Brisbane with drinks at Eagle Street Pier and Riverside. With a vibrant and thriving atmosphere, spending Friday night here is a great way to jump right into your Brisbane weekend.
Saturday
Saturday morning in Brisbane
Start your Saturday by admiring the city views from Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Watch the ferries and morning runners travel on past as you admire the river city.
Head over to Story Bridge and experience Brisbane from above with the Story Bridge Adventure Climb (you can read my review of this experience here: Story Bridge Adventure Climb: A Review)
Saturday afternoon
Once you’ve finished enjoying the unique perspective of Brisbane from the Story Bridge Adventure Climb, head into Southbank. Wander through the Southbank markets, grab something to eat for lunch and stop by Southbank Lagoon.
After you’ve got your fix, head over to QAGOMA, the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (more commonly known as GOMA). It can almost be guaranteed there will be an interesting exhibit at GOMA no matter what weekend you visit and is definitely worth including it in your Brisbane weekend itinerary.
Saturday Night
As the afternoon draws to a close, welcome Saturday night in Brisbane by enjoying the sunset from The Wheel of Brisbane.
Spend Saturday night in Brisbane watching a play or live performance at QPAC, Queensland Performing Art Centre. It is strongly advised to book ahead as popular events do sell out.
Sunday
Sunday Morning
After enjoying a fantastic Saturday in Brisbane, welcome Sunday with a sunrise at the Mt Coot-tha Lookout. You can also grab a coffee or breakfast at the cafe there. If you have time, it’s also worth stopping in at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, just down the road.
Sunday Afternoon
After welcoming the day from the mountain top, it’s time to head on one of the great Brisbane day trips by heading down to Purling Brook Falls. Just over 100km out of the Brisbane CBD, enjoy the afternoon in nature by hiking to the base of the falls and admiring the prehistoric World Heritage landscape and stunning falls from below.

Sunday Evening
Wind up your Brisbane weekend at Eat Street Markets, where you can take your pick of 180 dining options. This is a very popular local and tourist spot and has a thriving atmosphere.
Eat Street Markets are located in Northshore, and therefore close to the Brisbane International and Domestic Airport so you can head straight to the airport after your weekend in Brisbane if needed.
A vibrant and fresh city, enjoy your weekend exploring the best of Brisbane.
