The Black Horse Inn Bed & Breakfast Location

The Black Horse Inn Bed & Breakfast is found just outside the centre of Canterbury and near all the best things to do in this city. Only a 10 minute stroll from Canterbury High Street (Google Maps link here), a 7 minute walk from Canterbury’s Westgate Towers (Google Maps link here), and a 7 minute walk from Canterbury’s famous Westgate Gardens (Google Maps link here). The location alone is one of the reasons why this is one of the best Canterbury bed & breakfasts.

My friend Jordan and I visited Canterbury outside of the peak season in Autumn, 2021. This was great as there were no crowds of bustling tourists or tour buses and we were able to explore as we wished. We had only one night in Canterbury, so we spent the first day wandering through the High Street and visiting the famous Canterbury Cathedral, and the second day punting on the Canterbury river. The Black Horse Inn was really well placed for us to do everything we wanted to in Canterbury.

Canterbury Bed & Breakfasts: Parking at The Black Horse Inn

We had driven and therefore needed to find a carpark in Canterbury. Luckily, there was free (timed) parking nearby to The Black Horse Inn. However, we were told we were quite lucky to have scored a spot. I’d suggest arriving earlier/later in the day, leaving your car (and explore the town on foot!), and visiting in off-peak season for your best chance.

The Black Horse Inn Canterbury Room

We were absolutely thrilled with the room we were put in. On the ground floor, with french door access to a gorgeous courtyard, wonderfully decorated and incredibly cosy – this room was not just one of best Canterbury bed & breakfasts but felt so perfectly British.

The room was large for two people and equipped with an ensuite, fridge and tv.

Canterbury Bed & Breakfasts: The Black Horse Inn Courtyard

While we spent most of our time inside (due to the colder weather), in summer, I can imagine the courtyard is highly utilised. The Black Horse Inn Canterbury sent through the following snaps to show just how beautiful their courtyard is.

Of course, no stay in one of the Canterbury bed & breakfasts would be complete without, of course, breakfast. The next morning we were treated to a full English breakfast alongside a buffet selection.
